I was lucky I had that teacher and if you are lucky, you had her too!
She made sure you understood your value. She made sure you knew that taking a risk was just as important as getting the right answer. She made sure you learned how to solve problems instead of immediately seeking out someone else who already knew the answer. She made sure you knew how to make your voice heard … first by making space for you and then by noticing as you tried to make your own and ultimately, by celebrating when you found success. That teacher changed everything for me. Know, I work hard every day to be that teacher for the girls and the young women I teach.
