Passing on the Strength

When I asked my 15 year old daughter if her father was hurting her in anyway, I was sure she would say “No”, but something in my gut made me ask anyway. When she said “Yes”, it took everything in me to not breakdown. Instead, I got my children out of the house immediately. I then found out, that he was sexually abusing both of my daughters and had been doing so for almost 2 years.
Despite the millions of questions I had, I never doubted what was right. The police were called, he was arrested and is now incarcerated.
This wasn’t the “easy” choice, but it was the right one.
Now, three years later, my daughters inspire me with their strength and courage. They plan to help other victims of sexual abuse (each in their own way).
In my eyes, my daughters are super-heroes.
