A little bit creative, A little bit technical

It took me a while to find my place. Two sides of me seemed at odds with itself — the liberal arts side and the technical side. However, I was fortunate enough to find a place that was open to encouraging people to learn at their own pace and on their own terms. From there, I’ve rediscovered my technical side which had remained dormant.

Currently, I’m an active member of a great makerspace called FUBAR Labs, where the people are very friendly and very helpful.  They helped me go from casual self-taught coder to a budding electronic engineer.  At FUBAR, I learned to solder and worked on projects where I helped edit basic electronics lessons.  Through that process and with the help of incredibly supportive makers, it has helped me rediscover my technical side.

My mission now is to create alternatives and environments to nurture individuals who haven’t found their place in the traditional setting and learning paradigms.
I am the co-founder and co-owner of a company, Soldering Sunday.  It’s a small company where we design educational electronics products geared towards the beginner and non-traditional electronics enthusiast in a non-intimidating manner while taking into account form and function.  We want to provide an alternative based on project based learning for those of us who learn and think differently and do not develop well under the traditional linear style of education.   It is a great experience and has been an even greater journey!
